US military spokespersons informed two armed men were killed Sunday during joint raids with Iraqi forces in the locality of Baiji, allegedly in self-defense.

One of the men was said to be related to the governor of Salah al-Din province, Hamad Hammoud, but he is believed to be one of the official financers of the Al-Qaida network in Iraq, according to security forces.

A top official in Salah al-Din had previously indicated two adolescents, a son and a nephew of Hammoud had been killed by the occupation forces.

Another two persons also died Sunday when a car bomb exploded in Mosul.
