Indore : The Madhya Pradesh police said Wednesday they have solved the mystery behind an e-mail threatening to blow up Rajwada, a historically important place in Indore and some religious places in temple town Ujjain.
The e-mail was sent by a youth, identified as Indore resident Tanvir Khan now living in Riyadh, to take revenge on a cousin who abused his wife, the police said.
The police have arrested Tanvir’s cousin Pappu Khan of Ujjain, who allegedly called up Tanvir’s wife and abused her as a revenge on Tanvir because of a family dispute.
“We have contacted the Delhi police to catch hold of Tanvir through the Saudi Arabian embassy”, said Indore police superintendent R.K. Chaudhary.
The police had July 17 received an e-mail, on its website’s ‘inform us’ section.
The police, who did not rule out the possibility of the threat being a hoax, had beefed up security at the railway stations, airport, bus stands and other crowded places in Indore and Ujjain, Chaudhary said.
An activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) was also arrested and the court sent him to jail till July 25 for interrogation.
However, investigation proved that the e-mail was not sent by any terrorist outfit, Chaudhary said.
“A few days ago Pappu called up Tanvir’s wife and abused her. To teach Pappu a lesson, Tanvir sent the email to the Indore po1ice website and also gave Pappu’s mobile number warning that the owner this mobile would commit the terrorist acts”, Choudhary said.
