Mohammed Hamdan, 22, was injured in the leg by a gunshot after the Israeli soldiers manning border with Gaza opened fire at people who approached security fence that separates Israel and Gaza, the sources added.

He is now in stable condition at Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.

Israeli marine vessels also opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats in the sea in southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, in another violation of the truce, though less serious. No casualties or damage were reported.

The Egyptian-brokered Hamas-Israel ceasefire, took effect on June 19, basically succeeded to restore calm except for a number of minor violations.

Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad movement has warned that the ceasefire “will not last for long as long as the Israeli aggressions and the siege on the Palestinian people go on.”

In a statement sent to the media, the small Islamist group called on the Palestinian factions to “escalate their operations in response to the ongoing Israeli attacks.”
