Jammu rafting team participates in 1st International Kashmir Cup

Jammu: For the first time a young team of rafters from Jammu represented Jammu region in the first Kashmir International Cup held in Sonamarg, Kashmir on River Sindh. The team led by amateur river guide Sanjay Sambyal stood at thirteenth position.

Seven young rafters recently trained by nationally renowned rafter Rigu Raj Jamwal comprised the team. They were Dr Naveen Kotwal, Mudasir Kichloo, Advocate Firdous Tak, Naveed Khursheed, Deep Singh and Deepak. The team was sponsored by Jammu Tourism Department.

The championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with the Indian Rafting Foundation and Whitewater Rafting Association.

Sixteen teams including three foreign teams participated in the championship during which events like Sprint, Head to Head, Marathon and Slalom were held. The four-day long championship started on July 16.
