According to CNN, nearly 200 homes were evacuated and electricity was switched off in the area.

The spokesman for the Forestry and Fire Protection Department in California, Daniel Berlant, noted that the fire affects 26 square miles and might spread due to high temperatures of 99 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius) and scarce rainfalls.

For his part, the spokesperson for the state’s fire department, Karen Guillemin, pointed out that specialized teams were transferred by air and road to the affected areas.

We are cutting bushes as fast as we can, but the situation at present is extremely dangerous, the official said.

According to Los Angeles Times, fires consume nearly three million hectares in the United States every year.

In California alone, fires have cost the government more than one billion dollars a year, the newspaper said.
