Bangalore: Although there has been little progress in the last four days in the investigation of the last Friday’s serial blasts, Bangalore police says that the explosions could be the handiwork of some local group.
The reason behind this was the unprofessional way in which low intensity blasts were planned and executed. And the Bangalore police are in touch with their Ahmedabad counterparts.
Another important and noteworthy development emerged out of the preliminary investigation is that there was little similarity between the Bangalore and Ahmedabad blasts.
The police continued the interrogation of a few people who were picked from the Gurappanapalya locality in the city on Sunday.
They said it would take sometime before the identity of the group behind the blasts could be established.
The police said that officials from the National Bomb Data Centre of National Security Guards visited Channapatna in Ramanagara district on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway.
They also inspected the site of a failed explosion, from where a big amount of explosives was seized on Thursday.
Inspector-General of Police (Central Range) Kamalpanth said though the explosives found at Channapatna and that used for blasts in Bangalore were the same, the police is investigating to ascertain whether there was any link between the two incidents.
Police was confident that the ongoing investigations are on the right track.
In the meantime the Chief Minister of the state Yeddyurappa said on 28 July that the government is thinking of issuing identity cards to the visitors, apart from installing cameras at all the important places in order to check the infiltration of terrorist elements and ensure security of the citizens of the state.
He was replying to a debate in the Assembly on the serial blasts that rocked Bangalore on Friday last.
Mr. Yeddyurappa further said that in most countries, foreigners could not stay even a day longer after their visa period was expired. A similar measure had to be implemented in the state.
