Islamabad : Two unknown motorcyclists gunned down a government officer in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday in sectarian- related violence, police said on Thursday.
District Account Officer Arif Shah was gunned down in the city of Dera Ismail Khan. The gunmen fled after the firing. No group claimed responsibility for the killing.
Angry people blocked the road in front of the District hospital and chanted slogans against the banned organization ‘Sipah-e-Sahaba’ for the killing. They also chanted slogans against the local administration for its failure to check sectarian killings in the city.
Some among the protestors fired and injured three persons who were shifted to hospital.
Tension gripped the city after the incidents and the police were directed to deal with terrorists sternly. Shops and business centers were closed after the events.
