Algiers : A total of 13 people, including a Frenchman, were killed in two bomb blasts in northern Algeria Sunday evening, local media reported.
A remote control bomb exploded at the railway station in Beni Amrane, some 110 km east of the capital Algiers, killing a French railway engineer, who was leaving a building site in a car, along with his Algerian driver.
The second bomb was also detonated by remote control when rescuers were rushing to the scene, causing deaths and dozens of injuries.
So far, no individual or organization has claimed responsibility for the two blasts, which occurred near places where militant extremists are active, local media said.
Earlier on Thursday, a roadside bomb killed six soldiers in the city of Boumerdes, east of the Algerian capital.
Analysts believed extremists launched the terrorist attacks in order to sabotage the country’s political reconciliation process.
