Baghdad : A car bomb went off in a Baghdad commercial street on Monday, killing two people and wounding five others, an Interior Ministry source said.
The explosion occurred before noon when a booby-trapped car parked near the Mission commercial compound in the thoroughfare of Mu’askar al-Rasheed in Baghdad’s central neighborhood of Karradah, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast also damaged several nearby civilian cars and shops, the source said.
Violence persists in Baghdad despite a relative lull announced earlier by U.S. and Iraqi officials.
