Srinagar : Former chief secretary B R Kundal who was recently last week inducted as cabinet minister has been given the portfolio of Revenue and Relief earlier held by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
It was reliably learnt that the bureaucrat turned politician wanted to hold both education and Revenue but succumbing to the pressure of senior congressmen, chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today finally allotted Revenue and Relief portfolio to the B R Kundal.
Kundal who joined politics after resigning from the post of chief secretary will be contesting from R S Pura assembly constituency which is presently represented by former Health Minister and MLA Suman Bhagat.
Well informed sources in the congress told News Agency of Kashmir that the implementation of much hyped Roshni Act in Jammu and Kashmir forced to invite B R Kundal inducted him as cabinet minister and allotted Revenue portfolio to him.
With the joining and induction of B R Kundal the congress leaders in Jammu division have been even challenged by the members of the SC community for losing the R S Pura seat.
