Tehran : An expert team of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is holding talks with a delegation from Russia’s Gazprom on the development of several oilfields in the Islamic Republic.
A group of senior experts from NIOC are in talks with a visiting Russian delegation in Tehran from the Gazprom Neft Company affiliated to Gazprom as of Monday.
The negotiations are focusing on the development of Iran’s Shorom, Kouh Rig and Doroud oilfields.
NIOC and Russian companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in April for developing the three oilfields of Shourom, Rig and Douroud.
Gazprom Neft should finalise its review of information on the mentioned oil fields within the next six to eight weeks and submit a proposal within the deadline.
In February, a Gazprom delegation headed by Alexei Miller, deputy chairman of the Board of Directors and chairman of the Management Committee of the Russian energy company, also visited Tehran.
The Gazprom delegation’s visit was part of the efforts to develop phases 19, 20 and 21 of the giant South Pars gas field, establish a joint Iranian-Russian company with the participation of a third country, develop North Pars and Kish gas fields, joint cooperation in gas storage in Iran as well as joint cooperation in gas export.
