Raipur : The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has decided to file cases of forgery and cheating against two girl students – one who stood first in the class 12 and the other who was ranked third in class 10 final examinations – officials here said Thursday.
“The CGBSE held a lengthy meeting here Wednesday and decided to register FIR (first information report) against 13 people, included several teachers and girl student Porra Bai, who topped Class 12 exam among 190,567 candidates for results announced May 26,” a source in the board told IANS.
He added that the CGBSE would also register an FIR against seven people for forgery by Class 10 student Himani Tiwari, who was placed third on the merit list among 296,227 candidates in results announced May 30.
The decision to file charges was taken after the board’s probe panel in its 420-page report found 13 people, including two school principals and seven teachers, guilty of forgery and involvement in a conspiracy to help Porra Bai to achieve the top position with 484 marks out of the total 500.
The panel also found that answer-sheets of Porra Bai, a student of the Birra Government School in Janjgir district, were written by subject experts outside the exam centres and not a single mistake was detected in any of her answer-sheets.
In Tiwari’s case, her parents arranged forgery in nexus with some teachers.
The CGBSE meeting, presided over by chairman B.K.S. Ray, discussed in detail the two probe reports that found Tiwari and Porra Bai were helped by others to secure high marks in their exams.
