New Delhi : India’s industrial production continued to register slower growth and expanded by 7 percent in April, compared to 11.3 percent in the like month of the previous year, official statistics showed Thursday.
More alarmingly, the growth of manufacturing was just 7.5 percent, as opposed to 12.4 percent in April 2007, as per data on Index of Industrial Production (IIP), released at the Planning Commission here.
For the year as a whole, industrial production was 8.3 percent for fiscal 2007-08, as against 11.6 percent in the previous fiscal.
