Mumbai : The Indian equity markets turned flat early Friday afternoon after official data showed the inflation rate had reached a seven-year high of 8.75 percent.
At 1:00 p.m., the 30-share BSE Sensex was at 15,291.45, 41.25 points or 0.27 percent higher than the closing figure Thursday. It had touched a low of 15,149.98 in intra-day trade earlier.
The market breadth was positive. On BSE, 1,436 shares advanced, 953 declined and 79 remained unchanged.
At the same time the broader based S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was down by 13.25 points or 0.29 percent at 4,526.10.
