Police said the guerrillas hurled a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) unit in Shatrashahi area, barely one kilometre away from city centre Lal Chowk.

“The grenade exploded on the road, injuring a woman and a head constable of the CRPF. Both have been taken to the SMHS hospital,” a police officer said.

The civil secretariat houses the offices of the chief minister and other ministers. Saturday being a holiday, there were none of the usual crowds at the secretariat.
