The two heads made the remarks during Sunday’s talks in Jeddah, which focused on the political developments on Arab and regional arenas, efforts to achieve regional peace and stability as well as ways to activate all-round bilateral relations.

The two top leaders agreed that the difficult circumstances in the region require coordination and consultation to achieve solidarity among Arab countries.

They also expressed their support to the call made by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for dialogue between Palestinian factions to end division and unite Palestinian ranks.

The Kings called Israel’s continued building of settlements and its announcement for more settlements in East Jerusalem “a threat” to regional security and stability, affirming that the true road to peace lies in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the entire Palestinian territories.

With regard to the situation in Iraq, the two leaders extended their backing to Iraqi efforts to consolidate security and stability, noting the necessity of intensifying Arab efforts to support Iraq to maintain the unity of its people and sovereignty.

Jordan’s King Abdullah already came back from Sunday’s brief visit to Saudi Arabia.
