Punjab Chemicals profit rises 276.56 percent

Mumbai : Punjab Chemicals and Crop Protection Ltd Monday announced a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of Rs.265 million during fiscal 2007-08 compared to Rs.70 million the previous year, recording a growth of 276.56 percent.

The company said that its net sales also rose by 61.36 percent at Rs.5.62 billion from Rs.3.48 billion while earnings per Share (EPS) on annualised basis stood at Rs.37.75 for the year ending March 31, 2008.

The board of directors has recommended a dividend of 40 percent, Rs.4 for each equity share of Rs.10 each, compared to 25 percent per share last year, the statement said.

The company further said that it acquired Agrichem Netherlands in August 2007 for 39.5 million Euros and prior to this acquisition it had acquired Sintesis Quimica in Argentina for $10 million.

The company said it would continue to focus on agro-based inorganic growth on formulations and strengthen the base of its existing products in India further.
