Dubai : The United Arab Emirates-based real estate developer Nakheel has won the Sustainable Initiative award at the Facilities Management Middle East Awards 2008, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.
The award recognises Nakheel’s achievements in implementing recycling technology and sustainable building practices at its Palm Canal Towers project in Dubai and its involvement with corporate and social responsibility initiatives.
Palm Canal Towers is one of the first high-rise developments in the beach fronted Madinat Al Arab district.
Located on the western shores of Dubai, the project would transform 1.4 billion square feet of empty desert and sea into a living space for an estimated 1.5 million people that would be twice the size of Hong Kong island.
