Indian Muslim chambers of commerce floats AP unit

Hyderabad : Soon the Muslim industrialist, entrepreneurs and the traders of Andhra Pradesh will have their own organization to provide guidance and help in expanding their business and trade activities. The body to be called Andhra Pradesh Muslim Chambers and Commerce and Industry (APMCCI) is being floated by the Indian Muslims Chambers of Commerce based in Nagpur since 2007.

Sheikh Sirajuddin, the chairman of the body said that it will be a non governmental and non political organization to be registered under the Companies Act. He said the body will provide guidance and advice to the Muslim entrepreneurs on manufacturing of good and their export to the other countries. “The goal of the organization is to increase share of Muslims in the national economy and national growth index”, he said.

He said that it was a cause of concern for every body despite having about 18% population the share of the Muslim community in the DGP was only 0.23%.

IMCC today has a membership of 523 members and its representatives have already visited United Arab Emirates and will go to China soon. The focus of the APMCCI will be on the small traders and industrialists and they will be encouraged to expand their business by pointing out the opportunities available to them. “It will create awareness among the through seminars and workshops”, he said.

Sheikh Sirajuddin said that soon a delegation will hold talks with the Andhra Pradesh government to discuss the opportunities available in Andhra Pradesh for the Muslim traders and industrialists. The units of IMCC will also be established in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu which have a significantly large number of Muslim traders and industrialists.

Answering to a question he said the IMCC will have interaction with the bodies like Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and utilize their experience.
