Sydney : Australian wicket-keeper-batsman Brad Haddin will be heading back home from the West Indies tour with a broken finger.
Haddin, 30, broke his right finger in the first morning of the first Test. He had been optimistic that his finger could withstand the rigours of the five-match one-day series, but several painful blows to the finger in the first match in St Vincent prompted medical staff to order him home.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Haddin’s place in the one-day team has been taken by West Australian Luke Ronchi, who made his one-day international debut Friday against the West Indies at the National Stadium, Grenada.
Ronchi was originally flown to the Caribbean as cover for Haddin before the Barbados Test, but the incumbent Test keeper, with the assistance of painkilling injections, played through that match and the first one-dayer of the series.
