These facilities are coming up in Dubai Sports City (DSC), a campus being constructed in this West Asian metropolis, which will also have facilities for other sports.

“The Dubai Sports City cricket stadium, which is set to be ready by the end of the year, will be among the most advanced in the world, with next-generation facilities for players, officials, VIPs, spectators and the media,” DSC chief executive U. Balasubramaniam said here.

“Together with the ICC (International Cricket Council) Global Cricket Academy and other cricket facilities, it will add tremendous impetus to the sport,” he added.

Top cricket officials are gathering in this city, the new headquarters of the ICC, for the annual conference of the world cricket organisation this week.

ICC board members will be taken on a tour of the new facilities at DSC, including the 25,000-seat cricket stadium, the ICC Global Cricket Academy and the future ICC headquarters building Tuesday, the DSC statement said.

“After many years of careful planning and construction, we are now looking forward to seeing the stadium full with passionate supporters, watching the best cricket in the world,” said Macky Dudhia, DSC’s general manager for sports business.

DSC is being considered as a potential destination for a number of high-profile international matches since its location has the potential to bring together cricket enthusiasts from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
