Bangkok : Thailand’s Civil Court in Bangkok on Monday ordered the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), an anti- government civil group which has launched protests around the Government House for several days, to open Rama V and Phitsanulok roads for public and traffic.
The court also prohibited the PAD from using speakers during weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. because it caused troubles for students and teachers at schools near the rally site, Xinhua news agency quoted local news network The Nation’s report.
A group of teachers of a school near the rally site filed a complaint against PAD last week, accusing the PAD’s co-leaders of blocking streets, using speakers, leaving human waste around the area and using rude language.
The teachers said the protestors had violated their rights by blocking public streets, causing inconvenience for the teachers and forcing them to use other routes to reach the school.
Furthermore, the protestors did not use toilets, leaving a smell in the area that disturbed the teachers, students and the study atmosphere, the teachers complained.
The plaintiffs said the protest intentionally damaged their health, assets and rights and asked the court for an injunction to prevent the protestors from violating their rights further.
The PAD, since May 25, has launched mass protests every day in Bangkok. On May 20, tens of thousands protestors of the PAD broke through several police fences and launched an anti-government rally in front of the Government House in Bangkok.
The civil group said it has no plans to end the rally until the government led by Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej steps down.
