Agra : Tourists who are harassed in the city of the Taj should no longer face problems in registering complaints. The click of a mouse will now give them access to the Agra police’s newly set up web portal.
One can log on to www.cybercellagra.com, file a complaint and get help from the Agra police, said Kamal Saxena, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Agra range.
Saxena told IANS: “Several innovative features will be added to the portal to help the common man. All one needs to do is to go to a cyber cafe if one doesn’t have a computer at home and log in to file a complaint or seek solution to a problem.”
“It is an interactive portal with lots of features that would facilitate and bring about a degree of transparency in the operations,” Saxena said.
More than 13,000 visitors have already pressed the button, he added. Lately there has been a spate of complaints of harassment of tourists, especially foreigners, in Agra.
In addition to a women’s helpline, there is also a special tourist helpline feature. “There is a self-help forum where people can ask for advice or consultation. Whoever has the expertise or the knowledge can respond.”
Also, the stage is all set for launching the state’s first cyber lab in Agra. “We have submitted the project report and we are positive that the lab would receive the green signal soon,” the DIG said.
It will have divisions relating to cyber crimes with forensic equipment, laptops, workstations, software tools and a mobile communication investigation section. There will be focus on info-security.
