Kuala Lumpur : Malaysia has called for an immediate halt to the latest Israeli military aggression in Gaza and asked the United Nations Security Council to compel Israel to end its violation of international humanitarian and international law.
Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Monday the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which remained the core issue to ensure stability in the Middle East, would derail any ongoing effort and understanding towards achieving peace in the region should the matter not be addressed urgently.
He said the international community must demand Israel to halt to all forms of violence in the region.
“Only those who want to see further radicalization can be content with the status quo as Israel’s actions will only prompt violent reprisals at the expense of the innocent civilians,” he said in a statement here.
Israeli forces had launched a series of incursions into the Hamas-held Gaza Strip since last week, killing more than 100 civilians, including women and children.
