Thiruvananthapuram : The total number of professional and technical job seekers in Kerala has declined in 2007 as compared to the previous years, said the state Economic Review released here Tuesday.
The total number of professional job seekers, 177,000 in 2005, decreased to 164,000 in 2006 and further went down to 157,000 as of September 2007.
Of this, the number of unemployed engineering graduates declined from 8,466 in 2006 to 7,431 in September 2007.
Likewise, the number of unemployed medical graduates also showed a decline from 2,925 in 2006 to 2,418 in September 2007.
But the total number of job seekers showed an increase from 3.86 million in 2006 to 4.1 million as of September 2007.
The review also showed that there were more female jobseekers than men in all the 14 districts of the state.
As on March 2007, women constituted 2.39 million of the total job seekers in Kerala.
