Islamabad : Health Minister Ejaz Rahim has left for Kampala, Uganda, to attend the First Global Forum on Human Resources for Health, said an official statement.
The Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA) has convened the first-ever Global Forum. Human Resources for Health have now been identified as the single most critical constraint to the achievement of most health and development goals particularly in low income countries.
There is a global health workforce crisis which is characterized by widespread shortages, geographical mal-distribution, inappropriate skill mix, unfavourable working conditions and migration, the statement said.
The Kampala Forum comes at a significant time when problem recognition has grown, but effective solutions are only beginning to emerge and being tested and validated. It is expected to attract a wide range of participants, approximately 1000 people.
They will include global leaders, civil society leaders, National Ministers of Health, Finance, Education and Public Service, as well as Health Workers, Managers and Researchers with real world experience.
