Barjinder had sought anticipatory bail from the court fearing arrest from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The court directed the CBI not to arrest him till March 10, and asked him to cooperate with the CBI.

Singh is one of the accused in the Moga sex scandal, exposed last year, in which several police officials, politicians and others have been charged.

The police officials and politicians were using two call girls in a blackmailing the rich and the influential in Moga town.

Tota Singh is a former education minister of Punjab.

The call girls would trap influential and rich people and then blackmail them for huge sums of money. The ‘victims’ would be threatened with cases of rape and molestation on the basis of fake complaints the two call girls filed.

The CBI last week arrested two senior Punjab police officers – assistant inspector general of police Davinder Singh Garcha and superintendent of police Paramjit Singh Sandhu – for their involvement in the sex racket.

Several other police officers and politicians whose names figure in the racket are considered close to the ruling Akali Dal government in Punjab.

The Punjab government last month approached the Supreme Court to secure a stay on the CBI making public its inquiry report.
