Islamabad : President Pervez Musharraf said on Saturday session of National assembly will be convened without any delay as per the rules the summary for the purpose is received from the Prime Minister.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the PTV Center in Multan he said some elements are propagating rumors and creating chaos in the country to demoralize the nation.
He said these are the same elements who created doubts about the fairness and transparency of the elections. He said the people should hold these elements accountable and the new governments should beware of such elements.
The President said he fulfilled the promise of conducting free, fair, transparent elections in a peaceful manner. He said all the allegations regarding rigging proved false as all the segments of the society accepted the fairness of the elections.
He said he is pleased that the people have elected moderate forces in the elections while rejecting the extremists.
The President lauded the efforts of the Election Commission, Caretaker government and law enforcing agencies for providing a conducive environment for the elections.
He expressed satisfaction over the turnout of voters which was forty five percent despite threats of terrorist attacks.
He said, “We put the economy on right track and there was upsurge in all the sectors”.
He referred to the significant increases in foreign exchange reserves, foreign remittances, foreign direct investments and revenues.
He said now it is up to the upcoming governments to sustain the economic growth and address the economic problems being faced by the nation. He said the government will have to deal with sagacity to overcome the pressures of rising prices of oil, cooking oil and wheat, keeping in mind the financial condition of common man.
Referring to the challenge of terrorism and extremism, the President said,”We waged a war against the menaces and the upcoming government will have to continue the war against the scourge for the security and economic stability for the development of the country.
He said that stability and peace are the pre-requisite to take the country forward on the path of progress and development.
The President, the new governments in the center and provinces have to concentrate on good governance and not on the politics. He expressed the hope that the upcoming governments will act prudently and fulfill their responsibilities to meet the challenges facing the country.
