Yasser Abed Rabbo, a Palestinian negotiator told “Voice of Palestine Radio” that “Israel is doing its best to weaken the Palestinian Authority by preventing it from restoring security and order in the West Bank and Gaza.”

Israel has been imposing a tightened closure on the Gaza Strip and has setup roadblocks that divided the West Bank and disabled the PNA to deploy its security forces all over the area.

“Closure, roadblocks and expanding Jewish settlements, in addition to the military aggression against Gaza would only lead to widening the gaps between the two sides,” said Abed Rabbo.

Following an Israeli military operation on Gaza Strip, President Mahmoud Abbas decided to halt the talks with Israel on permanent status issues after more than 120 Palestinians were killed and 400 wounded.

Abed Rabbo asserted that there is a double game played by both Israel and Hamas movement to worsen the situation and escalate violence “in order to separate the Gaza Strip and move the control on the enclave to Egypt.”

Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in mid June last year after its militants ousted President Abbas security forces.
