Ajay Singh, newly appointed in charge of the Congress poll campaign committee in the state, said in-charge Ajay Singh said here Saturday that the party’s election strategy for the upcoming state elections would be two pronged.

“We will go to the people with the achievements of the Congress-led UPA government at the centre and also bring before the electorate the corruption during the Bharatiya Janata Party regime,” said Ajay Singh during an informal interaction with media persons.

“The BJP is neck deep in corruption from the grass root to the chief minister level. Go to any district and you will find that the BJP leaders have become contractors everywhere,” he alleged.

Singh denied that the Congress in the state was faction ridden and said that the party was united to face the BJP.

He held that there was no room for any third party in the state and ruled out any pact with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). “I am not in favour of any electoral pact with any party,” he said.

To a query, he said the contribution of the outgoing state Congress president Subhash Yadav cannot be denied because all the by-elections that the Congress won last year were contested under his leadership and guidance.

Asked about recent inflation around the country, Ajay Singh defended his party, saying: “prices have been under check and growth was unparalleled whenever the Congress has been in power at the central government”.

Singh also said that his party would chalk out an appropriate policy for the development of youth and work towards women’s empowerment.
