The name of Raghuvir Shrivastava, managing director of the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Development Corporation, was published in a newspaper advertisement greeting Chouhan on his birthday March 5.

The General Administration Department Saturday asked the official to explain the reason behind the act, sources said.

Shrivastava’s name and designation were printed prominently in the advertisement in a regional daily along with a photograph of corporation chairman V.S. Kokadiya.

“While the chairman, being a political appointee, can give such advertisements, Shrivastava’s name in the advertisement is violation of Section 3 (1) the of All India Service Conduct Rules, 1968,” an official said.

Section 3 (1) of conduct rules says that every member of the service shall at all times maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and shall do nothing that is unbecoming of a member of the service.

Shrivastava, a 1992 batch IAS officer, has reportedly told the General Administration Department that he was not aware of the corporation advertisement carrying his name, adding that the chairman might have given it.

But the department is apparently not satisfied with the verbal reply and may issue a notice to him, the sources said.
