Kolkata : Former Australian coach John Buchanan arrived in Kolkata Monday as part of his fact-finding mission for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Buchanan, who will coach the Kolkata team for the IPL, is expected to have talks with Sourav Ganguly, who will lead the Kolkata team.
Shah Rukh Khan is expected to arrive in Kolkata Thursday to oversee the preparations for the IPL matches at the Eden Gardens.
Buchanan recently said, “I’ll be spending a couple of days in Kolkata… It will be more a fact-finding mission and about making myself familiar with what’s a new challenge.”
Buchanan had phenomenal success as Australia’s coach from late 1999 to April 2007.
IPL officials said Buchanan had no prior appointments, though during the course of the day he might be meeting some people connected to the IPL.
