Riyadh : Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Abdullah Alu Al-Sheikh has warned Muslims against donating to suspicious quarters and untrustworthy people who might use the funds for evil activities targeting Islam and Muslims. “It is bad to give funds to just anyone who asks or to parties with dubious reputations or unknown backing,” the Grand Mufti said in an interview with Okaz Arabic daily. “It’s even worse to give it to an organization that’s known for its evil and for hurting Islam and its followers,” he added.
Last fortnight, police found an audio message from Al-Qaeda No.2 Ayman Al-Zawahri. The audio message was contained in a memory card of a mobile phone seized from 28 terror suspects. Sources told Okaz that the bearer of the phone has fled the country. It is unclear what the message said. “We should ignore such calls,” the Grand Mufti said about the message, “and we should reinforce our position against these dubious circles trying to engineer sedition amongst Muslims.
The Grand Mufti urged Muslims to distance themselves from such people and not to respond to them. Sheikh Aal Al-Sheikh also warned not to respond to such calls to travel abroad to carry out acts undermining the security of Muslims. Avoid those who violate the Shariah, spill the blood of Muslims and de-civilize and intimidate Muslims all over the world, the Grand Mufti said. “By these vicious and heinous acts they aim to distort the image of the land of the Two Holy Mosques,” he said. He also warned against giving shelter to terrorists, saying that Islam prohibits this because it undermines the country’s security.
