Kabul : Afghan and coalition forces have eliminated 10 militants and four criminals in two separate operations in southern and western Afghanistan, officials said on Wednesday.
In one operation, conducted in Deh Rawod district of the southern Uruzgan province, the Afghan and coalition troops killed 10 Taliban militants, including their two commanders.
Police chief of the province Brig. Gen. Juma Gul Himmat said the commanders had been identified as Mullah Sayed Raheem and Mullah Khan. Only two policemen sustained injuries in clash with the militants in the remote area, said the police chief.
On Monday, the coalition troops had claimed detaining 10 Taliban militants during an operation in the same province. Taliban so far did not issue any comment.
Separately, the Afghan and NATO troops killed four criminals during a swoop in western province of Herat on Tuesday.
Police officials in the province said the criminals, allegedly involved in kidnapping for ransom and robberies, were killed in Guzra district of the province. Fifteen more people were detained during the operation, police officials said.
