New Delhi : The government will fix the User Development Fee (UDF) levied on passengers at the new Bangalore International Airport only after receiving the final audited project cost from its promoters, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said Tuesday.
The Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) has proposed a user fee of Rs.675 and Rs.995 respectively for departing international and domestic passengers, to provide and maintain high infrastructure quality and safety at airport.
Patel informed the Lok Sabha that the proposal was on the lines of the provisions of the concession agreement between the BIAL and the government. However, the quantum of the fee is not specified in the agreement and the government is examining BIAL’s proposal.
The BIAL has also made additional investments for increasing the capacity of the new airport, the minister said, and thus the scope for cost recovery would also undergo a change.
The new airport at Devanhalli, about 37 km from the city, is nearing completion and final flight trials were conducted March 7.
