New Delhi : The Delhi High Court has asked two businessmen to perform community service with a voluntary organisation for a year as punishment for firing three shots at their friend for fun.
Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, while quashing a first information report (FIR) against the two businessmen Monday, asked Delhi Police not to return their gun for a year.
“You people have fired at your friend just for fun and humour, which is not tolerable. So I direct both of you to perform community service for one year in an NGO, ‘STOP’,” the judge said in his order.
The STOP is involved in rescuing girl victims of human trafficking.
The court also ordered the duo to deposit an amount of Rs.10,000 each in the Legal Aid cell and asked Delhi Police to make sure that they don’t hire any security guard for a year.
Nov 12 last year, Krishan Pal, Sunil Kumar and Dharamveer, all real estate businessmen, had gone out for dinner at a restaurant at Vasant Kunj in south Delhi.
They were about to leave the place when Krishan Pal took his security guard’s gun and fired three shots on Dharamveer’s car in which he was sitting. Dharamveer was unhurt.
The next day, the police registered the FIR against Sunil Kumar and Krishan Pal, but they secured bail soon after.
Last month, two city courts preferred to order community service as punishment to those held guilty.
Metropolitan Magistrate Tarun Kumar Sehrawat ordered a legislator named in a case of trespassing to organise a cleanliness drive and also spread awareness about family planning and AIDS.
In the second case, Metropolitan Magistrate Gautam Mannan ordered a boy, accused of causing a road accident by jumping a traffic light and driving without a licence, to attend a traffic school for 10 days.
