Kuwait is represented at the two-day preparatory ministerial meeting by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

Yesterday, Sheikh Mohammad said the revision of the OIC Charter was one of the most important topics on the summit agenda, explaining that it was important to determine whether the organization was one that grouped Muslim countries or Muslim communities, and this could only be done through the charter.

He said today’s session would witness the discussion of charter-related issues, especially OIC membership conditions and those for obtaining observer status, as well as the independence of Kosovo and economic cooperation between the organization’s member states.

Other topics of the ministers’ agenda include the implementation of the OIC’s ten-year action program, the Arab-Israeli conflict, political affairs, as well as economic, cultural, social and humanitarian affairs. Administrative and financial affairs are also on the agenda.

The ministerial session will conclude today, and will be followed by a joint press conference by OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsan Oglu and Senegalese Foreign Minister Cheikh Tidiane Gadio.

Sheikh Mohammad had arrived here Sunday to participate in the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the 11th Islamic Summit Conference, preceding the summit of leaders on Thursday.
