In a ‘Meet the Press Programme’ organized by Jammu Press Club Mir challenged the powers of so called party leaders to expel him from the party without following any democratic procedure.

He said, “PDP is my party and I have the right to expel all,” adding “PDP Kisi Ki Ghar Ki Jamaat Nahin Hai.” He said that perpetuation of family rule in PDP has spoiled the whole concept of formation of the party and it would be reframed to get it back on rails to its original plank.

Mir said that there arises no question of expelling him from the basic membership of PDP, as he was not the basic member of a party carrying the photograph of a family. “I have not joined a party whose receipt books and card carries the photograph of a family,” he said.

Mir said that novices are trying to mislead the public by hurling abuses on him saying, “Nobody would like to break relations with a ruling party except for those who keep the interest of the common masses close to heart.”

Ghulam Hassan Mir on announced a Third Front would soon emerge in Kashmir to contest next assembly elections. “Third front is bound to come up as many political leaders and parties are not in line with the aims and objectives of coalition partners Congress, PDP and Opposition National Conference”, Mir said. Mir said it will be a strong front with representatives from all three regions of the state.

In reply to a question whether Hurriyat leaders would also be a part of the front, Mir said there is no harm in talking to them. On his difference with the party leadership on nomination of deputy chief minister, Mir said that he was never a contestant for this post, instead the main confrontation was that the party never took a collective decision on any issue, rather, decisions were thrust by one person.

Janta Dal United leader Inder Mohindertar Singh and former BJP leader Narinder Singh Raina were also present on the occasion.
