Tehran : Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad officially welcomed his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Tuesday morning.
President Yudhoyono arrived here Monday afternoon heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation.
He was welcomed at Mehrabad International Airport by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Soleimani.
The official welcome ceremony was held at Presidential premises downtown Tehran.
During the ceremony national anthems of the two countries were played and the two presidents reviewed a guard of honor.
They would start their private talks immediately after the ceremony.
Official talks of the two countries’ delegations would be held at the end of the two presidents’ private talks.
President Ahmadinejad and President Yudhoyono would respectively chair the Iranian and Indonesian delegations.
The Indonesian president’s visit aims to discuss major bilateral issues including Tehran-Jakarta cooperation in the fields of agriculture, scientific and academic training courses and joint commercial activities.
A number of agreements are expected to be signed by the officials of the two countries.
Indonesia is a member of the Non-Aligned Movement at the United Nations Security Council which abstained to the council’s latest anti-Iran resolution provoked by the United States.
