Mumbai : Pakistan’s most dependable middle order batsman, Mohammad Yousuf, again found no takers for him at the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) second auction here Tuesday.
Yousuf, who was not picked by any of the eight franchise owners in the first round of the auction last month, was on top of the list Tuesday.
But his involvement with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) played spoilsport as none of the teams came forward to sign him up.
Yousuf, who is fighting a legal battle with the ICL after he dishonoured his contract with them, will now have to be paid $330,000 base price by IPL.
The franchisees chose not to bid for the premier batsman following a warning from ICL that an arbitrator is hearing a case of breach of contract against him. He has been restrained from playing in any other league other than ICL for the time being.
Yousuf was one of the first to get contracted to ICL following a fallout with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). PCB later patched up with him, after which he decided not to play in ICL and offered himself for the BCCI-backed league.
