Colombo : Gunbattles between government soldiers and Tamil Tiger rebels across Sri Lanka’s embattled north killed 28 guerrillas, AP quoted the military as saying Friday.
Fresh fighting along the front lines in the northern Vavauiya district Thursday killed 14 rebels, said military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara.
In the nearby Mannar district, soldiers attacked rebels across the front lines and killed 11 insurgents, while in the northeastern Welioya region, three more rebels were killed, Nanayakkara said.
