The incident occurred near the Keshavpur bus depot late Friday when the mob attacked a Blueline bus, plying on Route No. 883 between Uttam Nagar and the Kashmiri Gate interstate bus terminal.

“I was coming from Kashmiri Gate and was waiting for passengers at the bus stop. Suddenly some youths, numbering more than 30, came and without provocation started smashing the windowpanes of the bus with sticks, rods and stones,” said Anil Kumar, the driver of the bus.

“The men then attacked some passengers, who tried to protest. They didn’t rob any one,” Kumar added.

The passengers informed the police and the three injured were admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital. They were discharged after primary treatment.

Rajesh, a passenger, said: “We don’t know why they attacked the bus and us. When I tried to leave the bus, some four-five men pulled me back and hit me in the face with a hockey stick.”

The police said a case was registered at the Vikaspuri police station, but no one was arrested till Saturday evening.

“We don’t know the motive of the attack, but the matter is under investigation,” said a senior police officer.
