Al-Mathkour told KUNA the office supports all Zakat House projects around the world, including projects in Egypt. It is particularly active in Egypt, he said, and is always considering the needs of the different communities and means to satisfy them through the philanthropic support of donors.

The most recent achievements of the office in Cairo was the launch of several mosques in Al-Giza and some other projects in cooperation with Al-Azhar Mosque in different regions of the country.

Such donations are invested in like projects in belief that this would serve as thanks to the Almighty for the wealth and opulence with which He blessed Kuwait. The State is keen on such initiatives and many of the projects are launched by the minister of awqaf and Islamic affairs himself, the figure noted.

There are many communities in need of support, suffering from natural disasters and other crises and the office sees it its duty to consider action in such places across the Arab and Islamic worlds, Al-Mathkour remarked.

Meanwhile, Sharia and comparative jurisprudence professor in Egypt and member of the International Association of Muslim Scholars Dr. Mohammad Othman said the office is very active and well represents Kuwait’s charitable nature.

The professor, a previous Sharia faculty dean, told KUNA among the special achievements is the project to offer the Fiqh (Jurisprudence) Encyclopedia on CDs and other such leading work to serve the field.

The office’s work is felt and appreciated beyond the Arab world in Africa where Kuwait’s name is on all lips for its charitable and humanitarian initiatives.

UAE professor of Sharia and Law Dr. Mohammad Abderlreheem Sultan said the office brings the State of Kuwait pride and it shows good eye for and unique approach to the needs of the communities it seeks to help. Its report of last year’s achievements is nothing less than impressive, he said.
