Addressing the gathering, Ali Anwar, president of All India Pasmanda Muslim Mahaz, said when Dalits belonging to all other religions had been provided the facility of reservation, why Muslims and Christians are being deprived of this facility. If scheduled caste status is not accorded to Dalit Muslims and Christians immediately, the day may come when funeral prayers for UPA government would be observed at the same place by ousting this government out of power, said he. The Muslim demonstrators offered Juma prayer at the site, perhaps first time in history. The call for prayer reverberated in the surroundings.

He told the gathering the country could not become a progressed nation without implementing the recommendations of Justice Sachar and Justice Mishra Commissions. He said the way Dalit Muslims and Christians observed the sit-in, this gave birth to a new movement and a countrywide campaign would be started in this connection if their demand was not met.
