“Our party is keen to establish an identity on its own. Therefore, I do not see any need for electoral alliances,” Kumar said here.

He was reacting to reporters’ queries following indications from other actor-led outfits based in Tamil Nadu to form a third front with the Congress, the left and other smaller parties.

The alliance is seen as a move to challenge the two main Dravidian parties in the state.

Kumar, who also is the president of the South Indian Film Artistes’ Association (SIFAA), has launched an investigation into allegations against small movie companies’ abusing visa facilities offered by foreign diplomatic missions here.

Kumar had ordered the removal from the SIFAA of actress Flora Saini, at present in prison for allegedly trying to obtain a visa through fraudulent means to visit the US.

Both Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Leader of Opposition J. Jayalalithaa have captured power in the past only through electoral alignments with various outfits, including the Congress and the communist parties.
