Somnath Chatterjee’s condition ‘stable’

New Delhi : Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee is “recuperating well”, doctors at the Army Research and Referral Hospital here said Tuesday, a day after he was admitted there for respiratory infection and fever.

“The speaker was admitted to our hospital with respiratory infection on Monday. His condition is stable and he is recuperating well,” Col. S.K. Sakuja, Indian Army spokesperson, told IANS.

On Monday, Chatterjee had gone to the hospital for a routine check up. However, sources close to the speaker said he was not feeling well and was running high temperature.

Chatterjee had been touring in his constituency in West Bengal last weekend and returned to Delhi for the Lok Sabha proceedings Monday morning.
