Ramallah : Palestinian security sources said the Israeli army forces arrested early on Tuesday 23Palestinians in different West Bank towns and villages.
The sources said that Israeli soldiers, backed by jeeps and armored vehicles stormed houses at predawn in the towns and villages of Ramallah, Jenin, Bethlehem and Tulkarem.
Israeli Radio quoted Israeli security sources as saying that the Israeli army arrested 23 Palestinian wanted, adding that they were taken from their homes to detention centers for interrogation.
The Palestinian security sources said that the 23 Palestinian detainees are activists from secular Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, as well as the Islamic Jihad (Holy War)and Hamas movements.
Official figures issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs said that there are 11,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, most of them were arrested during the Intifada (uprising) erupted against Israel in late September 2000.
