The trouble started when Higher Education Minister Samir Dey replied to a question related to the university. Dissatisfied by the minister’s answer, Congress legislators demanded the scrapping of the deal inked between the Orissa government and Anil Agarwal Foundation two years ago.

The multi-disciplinary Vedanta University will be set up in Puri town on 7,000 acres of land with an investment of Rs.150 billion.

However, the project is facing considerable opposition from local residents.
