New Delhi, March 24 (IANS) Heavy rain continued in several southern cities Monday and even disrupted the net practice of Indian and South African cricket teams ahead of Wednesday’s Test match at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai.
Chennai received 1.2 millimetres of rainfall. The Met office in Chennai said a shallow depression has developed in the Bay of Bengal and may result in intermittent showers till Wednesday, which may affect the Test match.
Other south Indian cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad also experienced heavy rains.
According to the weatherman, south and interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh would get thundershowers till Tuesday.
However, temperature recorded slight increase in several north Indian cities, including the national capital.
The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius, two points above the normal level, while the minimum temperature was 16.8 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal.
The weather department forecast dry weather in most of the north Indian cities in the next few days. However, West Bengal and Orissa are likely to receive some rainfall Tuesday.
Kolkata got 1.4 mm of rain while Bhubaneswar recorded 4 mm Monday.
