Chennai : South Africa won the toss and elected to bat against India in the first Test at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here Wednesday.

India: Anil Kumble (captain), Virender Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, V.V.S. Laxman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicket-keeper), Harbhajan Singh, Rudra Pratap Singh and Sreesanth.
